2.  *     A Book revealed unto thee,- So let thy heart be oppressed no more by any difficulty on that account,- that with it thou mightest warn (the erring) and teach the Believers).     This scripture has been revealed to you - you shall not harbor doubt about it in your heart - that you may warn with it, and to provide a reminder for the believers.

3.  *     Follow (O men!) the revelation given unto you from your Lord, and follow not, as friends or protectors, other than Him. Little it is ye remember of admonition.     You shall all follow what is revealed to you from your Lord; do not follow any idols besides Him. Rarely do you take heed.

4.  *     How many towns have We destroyed (for their sins)? Our punishment took them on a sudden by night or while they slept for their afternoon rest.     Many a community we annihilated; they incurred our retribution while they were asleep, or wide awake.

5.  *     When (thus) Our punishment took them, no cry did they utter but this: "Indeed we did wrong."     Their utterance when our retribution came to them was: "Indeed, we have been transgressors."     فما كان دعواهم اذ جاءهم باسنا الا ان قالوا انا كنا ظالمين     fma kan d`wahm aX ja'hm basna ala an qalwa ana kna Zalmyn

7.  *     And verily, We shall recount their whole story with knowledge, for We were never absent (at any time or place).     We will inform them authoritatively, for we were never absent.

8.  *     The balance that day will be true (to nicety): those whose scale (of good) will be heavy, will prosper:     The scales will be set on that day, equitably. 9.  *     Those whose scale will be light, will be their souls in perdition, for that they wrongfully treated Our signs.     As for those whose weights are light, they will be the ones who lost their souls as a consequence of disregarding our revelations, unjustly.

10.  *     It is We Who have placed you with authority on earth, and provided you therein with means for the fulfilment of your life: small are the thanks that ye give!     We have established you on earth, and we have provided for you the means of support therein. 11.  *     It is We Who created you and gave you shape; then We bade the angels bow down to Adam, and they bowed down; not so Iblis; He refused to be of those who bow down.     We created you, then we shaped you, then we said to the angels, "Fall prostrate before Adam." They fell prostrate, except Iblees (Satan); he was not with the prostrators.

12.  *     (God) said: "What prevented thee from bowing down when I commanded thee?" He said: "I am better than he: Thou didst create me from fire, and him from clay."     He said, "What prevented you from prostrating when I ordered you?" He said, "I am better than he; You created me from fire, and created him from mud."

19.  *     "O Adam! dwell thou and thy wife in the Garden, and enjoy (its good things) as ye wish: but approach not this tree, or ye run into harm and transgression."     "As for you, Adam, dwell with your wife in Paradise, and eat therefrom as you please, but do not approach this one tree, lest you fall in sin."

20.  *     Then began Satan to whisper suggestions to them, bringing openly before their minds all their shame that was hidden from them (before): he said: "Your Lord only forbade you this tree, lest ye should become angels or such beings as live for eve r."     The devil whispered to them, in order to reveal their bodies, which were invisible to them. He said, "Your Lord did not forbid you from this tree, except to prevent you from becoming angels, and from attaining eternal existence."     فوسوس لهما الشيطان ليبدى لهما ماورى عنهما من سواتهما وقال مانهاكما ربكما عن هذه الشجرةالا ان تكونا ملكين او تكونا من الخالدين     fwsws lhma al$yTan lybdi lhma mawri `nhma mn swathma wqal manhakma rbkma `n hXh al$jr+ala an tkwna mlkyn aw tkwna mn alKaldyn

22.  *     So by deceit he brought about their fall: when they tasted of the tree, their shame became manifest to them, and they began to sew together the leaves of the garden over their bodies. And their Lord called unto them: "Did I not forbid you that tree, and tell you that Satan was an avowed enemy unto you?"     He thus duped them with lies. As soon as they tasted the tree, their bodies became visible to them, and they tried to cover themselves with the leaves of Paradise. Their Lord called upon them: "Did I not enjoin you from that tree, and warn you that the devil is your most ardent enemy?"     فدلاهما بغرور فلما ذاقا الشجرة بدت لهما سواتهما وطفقا يخصفان عليهما من ورق الجنة وناداهما ربهما الم انهكما عن تلكما الشجرة واقل لكما ان الشيطان لكما عدو مبين     fdlahma bGrwr flma Xaqa al$jr+ bdt lhma swathma wTfqa yKSfan `lyhma mn wrq aljn+ wnadahma rbhma alm anhkma `n tlkma al$jr+ waql lkma an al$yTan lkma `dw mbyn

26.  *     O ye Children of Adam! We have bestowed raiment upon you to cover your shame, as well as to be an adornment to you. But the raiment of righteousness,- that is the best. Such are among the Signs of God, that they may receive admonition!     O children of Adam, we have provided you with garments to cover your bodies, as well as for luxury. But the best garment is the garment of righteousness. These are some of GOD's signs, that they may take heed.     يابني ادم قد انزلنا عليكم لباسا يواري سواتكم وريشا ولباس التقوى ذلك خير ذلك من ايات الله لعلهم يذكرون     yabny adm qd anzlna `lykm lbasa ywary swatkm wry$a wlbas altqwi Xlk Kyr Xlk mn ayat allh l`lhm yXkrwn

27.  *     O ye Children of Adam! Let not Satan seduce you, in the same manner as He got your parents out of the Garden, stripping them of their raiment, to expose their shame: for he and his tribe watch you from a position where ye cannot see them: We m ade the evil ones friends (only) to those without faith.     O children of Adam, do not let the devil dupe you as he did when he caused the eviction of your parents from Paradise, and the removal of their garments to expose their bodies. He and his tribe see you, while you do not see them. We appoint the devils as companions of those who do not believe.

Say, "GOD never advocates sin. You shall devote your worship absolutely to Him alone. Just as He initiated you, you will ultimately go back to Him."

30.  *     Some He hath guided: Others have (by their choice) deserved the loss of their way; in that they took the evil ones, in preference to God, for their friends and protectors, and think that they receive guidance.     Some He guided, while others are committed to straying. They have taken the devils as their masters, instead of GOD, yet they believe that they are guided.

31.  *     O Children of Adam! wear your beautiful apparel at every time and place of prayer: eat and drink: But waste not by excess, for God loveth not the wasters.     O children of Adam, you shall be clean and dress nicely when you go to the masjid. And eat and drink moderately; Surely, He does not love the gluttons.

32.  *     Say: Who hath forbidden the beautiful (gifts) of God, which He hath produced for His servants, and the things, clean and pure, (which He hath provided) for sustenance? Say: They are, in the life of this world, for those who believe, (and) pure ly for them on the Day of Judgment. Thus do We explain the signs in detail for those who understand.     Say, "Who prohibited the nice things GOD has created for His creatures, and the good provisions?" Say, "Such provisions are to be enjoyed in this life by those who believe. Moreover, the good provisions will be exclusively theirs on the Day of Resurrection." We thus explain the revelations for people who know.

34.  *     To every people is a term appointed: when their term is reached, not an hour can they cause delay, nor (an hour) can they advance (it in anticipation).     For each community, there is a predetermined life span. Once their interim comes to an end, they cannot delay it by one hour, nor advance it.

35.  *     O ye Children of Adam! whenever there come to you apostles from amongst you, rehearsing My signs unto you,- those who are righteous and mend (their lives),- on them shall be no fear nor shall they grieve.     O children of Adam, when messengers come to you from among you, and recite My revelations to you, those who take heed and lead a righteous life, will have nothing to fear, nor will they grieve.

36.  *     But those who reject Our signs and treat them with arrogance,- they are companions of the Fire, to dwell therein (for ever).     As for those who reject our revelations, and are too arrogant to uphold them, they have incurred Hell, wherein they abide forever.

37.  *     Who is more unjust than one who invents a lie against God or rejects His Signs? For such, their portion appointed must reach them from the Book (of decrees): until, when our messengers (of death) arrive and take their souls, they say: "Where a re the things that ye used to invoke besides God?" They will reply, "They have left us in the lurch," And they will bear witness against themselves, that they had rejected God.     Who is more evil than those who invent lies about GOD, or reject His revelations? These will get their share, in accordance with the scripture, then, when our messengers come to terminate their lives, they will say, "Where are the idols you used to implore beside GOD?" They will say, "They have abandoned us." They will bear witness against themselves that they were disbelievers.

38.  *     He will say: "Enter ye in the company of the peoples who passed away before you - men and jinns, - into the Fire." Every time a new people enters, it curses its sister-people (that went before), until they follow each other, all into the Fire. Saith the last about the first: "Our Lord! it is these that misled us: so give them a double penalty in the Fire." He will say: "Doubled for all" : but this ye do not understand.     He will say, "Enter with the previous communities of jinns and humans into Hell." Every time a group enters, they will curse their ancestral group. Once they are all in it, the latest one will say of the previous one, "Our Lord, these are the ones who misled us. Give them double the retribution of Hell." He will say, "Each receives double, but you do not know."     قال ادخلوا في امم قد خلت من قبلكم من الجن والانس في النار كلما دخلت امة لعنت اختها حتى اذا اداركوا فيها جميعا قالت اخراهم لاولاهم ربنا هؤلاء اضلونا فاتهم عذابا ضعفا من النار قال لكل ضعف ولكن لاتعلمون     qal adKlwa fy amm qd Klt mn qblkm mn aljn walans fy alnar klma dKlt am+ l`nt aKtha Hti aXa adarkwa fyha jmy`a qalt aKrahm lawlahm rbna hWla' aDlwna fathm `Xaba D`fa mn alnar qal lkl D`f wlkn lat`lmwn

40.  *     To those who reject Our signs and treat them with arrogance, no opening will there be of the gates of heaven, nor will they enter the garden, until the camel can pass through the eye of the needle: Such is Our reward for those in sin.     Surely, those who reject our revelations and are too arrogant to uphold them, the gates of the sky will never open for them, nor will they enter Paradise until the camel passes through the needle's eye. We thus requite the guilty.

And they shall hear the cry: "Behold! the garden before you! Ye have been made its inheritors, for your deeds (of righteousness)."     We will remove all jealousy from their hearts. Rivers will flow beneath them, and they will say, "GOD be praised for guiding us. We could not possibly be guided, if it were not that GOD has guided us.
